小学生学习英语，由于其年龄的原因，对学习的一些东西还不能做到融会贯通，其学习的方法主要还是靠强制记忆学习。这种方式在小学生学习的初期还行，因为小学生对新事物本身具有一种好奇心，但是随着学习的深入，词汇量的增多，如果单纯的依靠强制学习，其记忆掌握词汇的难度势必加大，学习的兴趣亦会降低。这就是有些孩子在学习英语的初期还可以，而到后来不行的原因。
《突破英语词汇》一书出版的非常好，也非常及时。其中的一些学习方法，可能教*也会，但可能不会这么系统。书中介绍的词汇记忆方法，它把一些相关联的词汇穿成一条链，方便了小学生的掌握和记忆。如月份，如果一个月份一个月份的单独记忆就会耗费较多的精力，而如果联想起来记忆就会容易很多，而且掌握的也扎实。对小学生而言，一条链一条链的记忆，势必比一个词一个词的记忆要容易的多，而且掌握的要扎实的多，对学习英语兴趣的提高也会十分有益。
